Food product information published in the form of food product labels is essential to making informed purchase and recipe decisions by consumers. It is often depended upon in absence of other more reliable information resources to manage budgets and diet plans and to differentiate one food product from another. Nutrition data[1] is required by law[2][3] to be printed on food products. Identification, pricing and nutrition data are not required to be in machine readable form. The following list of food product includes bar codes, price and nutrition information in machine readable form which may be updated and corrected to serve a variety of informational tasks such as creating a personal recipe database or performing automated nutritional analysis for various combinations of foods.

Reliable food product identification, price and nutrient information

is sourced from information published on product register receipts, nutrition fact and printed bar code labels including the following information:

  1. Nutrient Source (name of food product or generic category published on food product label)
  2. UPC (Universal Product Code used for product identification published on food product label)
  3. PLU (Price Look-up Code published on produce sticker used to identify produce products)
  4. TOTAL GRAMS PER SERVING (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  5. SERVINGS PER PACKAGE (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  6. PACKAGE WEIGHT (amount published on food product label)
  7. PACKAGE COST (amount published on register receipt)
  8. FAT (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  9. CHOLESTEROL (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  10. SODIUM (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  11. POTASSIUM (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  12. CARBOHYDRATE (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  13. FIBER (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  14. SUGAR (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  15. SUGAR ALCOHOL (amount published on nutrition fact label)
  16. PROTEIN (amount published on nutrition fact label)
